Debra Lynn Connor Byrd, 62 of Shallotte, NC passed away Wednesday evening at Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington, NC She was preceded in death by her mother Ivy Lee Core Connor. She is survived by her father Ronald Connor of Erwin, two sons Christopher Byrd and wife Carol of Holly Springs, NC and Geoff Byrd of Boone, NC, brother Ron Conner, Jr. of Erwin, NC two grandchildren

Christopher Leigh Smith

Christopher Leigh Smith, 27 of 55 Jonesboro Rd. Dunn, passed away Sunday June 19th due to a motorcycle accident. He was employed with State Farm Insurance Co. and was preceded in death by his mother Susan Lee. Christopher is survived by two children Nickolas C. & Bryleigh B. Smith of Erwin, brother Corbett Lee Smith of Knoxville TN., and grandmother Pauline Jackson of Erwin.

Ashli Michal Armstrong

Ashli Michal Armstrong, 20 of 55 Jonesboro Rd. Dunn passed away Sunday, June 19 due to motorcycle accident. Ashli worked with Cornerstone Nursing Home in Dunn as a CNA, was attending school and volunteered with Dunn EMS services. She is survived by her mother Sara_Jane Skiwski of San Jose, California, her father Kenneth Gail Armstrong of Columbus, Mississippi, Grandparets: Gail & Teena Armstrong and Jacob & Nancy Skiwski.

Dorothy Denning Miller

Mrs. Dorothy Denning Miller, 87 of Erwin, NC died Tuesday, May 31,2011. She was born July 29, 1923 to the late Martin Delaister (Dal) & Annie Matthews Denning in Harnett County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Clemon Theron Miller, Sr. and son Clemon Theron Miller, Jr., brothers Marvin Denning, Namon Denning, Melvin Denning and sisters Ervie Gregory, Lessie Gregory, Lolan Barbour, Colon Ferrell and Ima Fish. She is survived by son Delain Miller and wife Ann of Dunn, daughter-in-law Judy Strickland Miller of Greensboro, grandson Clemon Theron Miller, III of Greensboro,Justin Delain Miller and wife Kaitlin of Fort Mill, SC, granddaughter Cathey Ann Miller of Greensboro, Hannah Miller Landis and husband Gary of Dunn, great grandchildren Josh and Emma Miller of Thomasville, NC and several nephews and nieces

Polly H. Dawkins, 69 of 8370 Challenger Dr., Linden passed away Monday, May 9th at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. She was the daughter of the late Dock & Swannie Brown Hair. She is survived by her husband Paul Dawkins, Sr. of the home; son Paul Dawkins Jr. & wife Donna of Linden; four grandchildren: Heather Stiles of Hope Mills, Christian Dawkins of Fayetteville, Anthony Leslie of Polkton, NC & Ashley Philpott of Linden.

Charles Faircloth

Charles Faircloth, 86 of Erwin passed away at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh Saturday, May 7th. He was the owner & operator of Charles Body Shop in Erwin and served in the US Navy. He was the son of the late Simpson and Dixie Wise Guin and was preceded in death by his daughter Marilyn F. Brown and grandson Charles F. Brown. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Katherine Moore Faircloth, two sisters: Helen and husband Glenn Autry of Erwin, Inez Wimbauer of Ravenwood, W.VA., two great-grandchildren Jonathan Brown of Angier, NC & Kindal Brown of Benson, NC

Shelton Earl Spence, Sr.

Mr. Shelton Earl Spence, Sr., 71 of Guyton, GA formerly of Erwin died Thurday, May 5th at his home. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Spence of the home, his parents James & Margaret Blackman of Erwin, three sons Shelton Earl Spence, Jr., Kevin Brynes & step-son Kenneth Jacobs all of Guyton, GA. two daughters Sharon Jacobs of Guyton, Ga. & Kathy Jones of Birmingham, Ala., brother Dallas Lee Blackman of Erwin and sister Barbara Raynor of Linden, NC Seventeen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren. The Family will receive friends, Monday May 9th from 11:30-1:30PM at Price Funeral Home and other times at the home of Margaret & James Blackman in Erwin. Ora Jean Hogan Hobby, 71 of 3740 Hayes Mill Rd., Godwin passed away Wednesday at her home. She was the daughter of the late Russell H. Hogan & Vonnie Alma Norris Hogan. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Hobby and son Russell Franklin Rutherford. She is survived by two sons: Steven Rex Rutherford of Godwin, Michael Timothy Hobby (Timmy) of Godwin, two daughters: Susan Jane Brown of Montgomery, Ala. & Jennifer Nicole Martin of Durham, two brothers: Russell Thomas (Tommy) Hogan of Willow Springs & Donald Hoyt (Donnie) Hogan of Dunn, sister Judith King of Coats. Seven grandchildren, nine nine great grandchildren.

Elgie Beasley Spence

Elgie Beasley Spence, 78 of 805 East Morris Circle, Dunn, NC passed away Saturday, April 9th at E. Carlton Powell Hospitce Center in Lillington. She was the daughter of the late Jada Allen & Roberta McLamb Beasley and was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Spence. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 11th @ 2:00PM at Harnett Devotional Gardens. She is survived by two step-sons: Michael C. & wife Lynn Spence of Wisconsin, Kenneth O. Spence of Virginia, two brothers J.C. Beasley of Benson & Gram Allen Beasley of Dunn, eight sisters: Marie Holmes, Madie Strickland, Joyce Jernigan, Rochelle Tart & Barbara Barefoot all of Dunn, Hazel McLamb of Benson, Shirley Hudson of Fayetteville and Jo Ann McLamb of S.C.

William “Bill” Irvin Palmer, 73 of Linden passed away Tuesday, March 29th at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. He is the son of the late Joseph A. and Margie Palmer and preceded in death by brother J. A. Palmer Jr. He is survived by his wife Joyce Ormand Palmer of the home, three sons Kenneth Palmer of Dallas, Tx., Sandy Palmer of Floriday & Artie Palmer of Linden, daughter Rhonda Gainey of Linden, brother John Palmer of Dunn, six sisters Fran Raynor & Nellie Stevio both of Dunn Mary Lou Mahallati & Margie Bussell both of Marlton, NJ, Jeannette Hillyer & Evelyn Woodall both of Fayetteville, Six grandchildren, one great grandchild.
